Polestar 4 SUV
Last updated October 2026
From$84,500
From$81,135
The Polestar 4 SUV is the pick for most buyers: it travels further between charges, costs less before on-road costs and services half as often, with a cabin as premium as the Lexus. Choose the Lexus RZ for hand-built quiet, faster home AC charging and Lexus dealer aftercare.
22kW
Where most owners actually charge, at home on AC, the Lexus RZ draws 22kW to the Polestar 4 SUV's 11kW and refills roughly twice as fast overnight, even as the Polestar wins on outright range.

Both wear a current five-star ANCAP rating. The Lexus RZ's 2023 result comes with published sub-scores, 87 per cent adult and 89 per cent child occupant protection, and 10 airbags. The Polestar 4's 2025 rating applies to all variants, including the new SUV body, and brings seven airbags with a front centre bag. Both run the full active-safety suite as standard. It is a straight tie on protection; the Lexus simply publishes more of the detail.
A genuine tie.
Both cars handle safetyequally well — this one’s a draw.

The Polestar 4 SUV makes the family case on space and range. Its SUV body restores a rear window, adds 25mm of rear headroom and a 530-litre boot that folds to about 1,665 litres, and the 630km range eases long trips. It also services every two years. The Lexus RZ offers a quieter cabin, a 522-litre boot and published child-occupant protection of 89 per cent. Both seat five. For growing families who travel, the Polestar is the more practical choice.
Based on Everyday & family, we’d pick the Polestar Polestar 4 SUV.
The RZ wears Lexus's resolved 'spindle body' nose, a clean closed-off front with slim bi-LED headlights and a low-slung EV stance. It reads restrained and premium rather than aggressive, the Takumi design language rendered in electric form.
The Polestar 4 SUV leads with the brand's dual-blade LED signature and a frameless, minimalist face. The SUV body sits a touch taller than the coupe on its roof rails, with unpainted lower cladding giving it a more rugged, wagon-like presence.

Opinions are our own.
Cabin quiet and build quality matter more to you than outright range. You charge mostly at home on three-phase and value the 22kW AC speed. You want a five-star ANCAP result with published sub-scores and 10 airbags. Your driving is largely around town, where 460km is plenty. And you value Lexus dealer aftercare and the 500e's FBT-exempt running costs above the lowest purchase price.
Explore the RZRange leads your list and 630km suits how far you travel. You want the lower before-on-roads price and a two-year service interval. You would take the bigger folded boot, the restored rear window and the extra rear headroom for family duty. You like a sharp, tech-forward cabin with a 15.4-inch Google system. And, in Dual Motor form, you want the quickest car here at a claimed 3.9 seconds.
