The Toyota bZ4X is the pick for most buyers: it travels further on less energy, charges faster at home and carries a five-star ANCAP rating the untested Mazda CX-6e cannot match. Choose the CX-6e for its lower driveaway price, its much bigger screen and its quicker DC charging, if an independent safety score is not decisive.
51 Wh/km
The Mazda CX-6e carries the bigger 78kWh battery yet travels about 107km less than the Toyota bZ4X between charges, because it uses 189Wh/km against the Toyota's 138. Efficiency, not battery size, sets the range here.

The Mazda CX-6e is the roomier shell, longer on a 2,902mm wheelbase, with a 1,434L folded boot and a standard panoramic roof. The bZ4X counters with the bigger seats-up boot at 452L, the longer range and the five-star rating families lean on. Want space and cabin ambience, the Mazda; want the independent safety score and the range, the Toyota.
A genuine tie.
Both cars handle everyday & familyequally well — this one’s a draw.
The CX-6e wears Mazda's design language over Changan hardware: a wide, low nose and slim lighting that read more premium than the price suggests.
The bZ4X's restyled front is cleaner than the pre-update car, conventional where the Mazda is dramatic, and unmistakably a Toyota SUV.

you want the most cabin and screen for the money. The GT is the buy at around $56,990 driveaway: the full 26.45-inch display, the head-up unit, a panoramic roof and heated and ventilated front seats, plus the quicker DC charge and the stronger entry motor. You accept no ANCAP rating yet, and a shorter range, for the lower price and the richer standard kit.
Explore the CX-6erange, efficiency and a proven safety record lead your brief. The 2WD is the sweet spot: 591km, the leanest energy use here, 22kW home charging and a five-star ANCAP, backed by Toyota's dealer network and capped-price servicing. Step up to the 252kW AWD only if you genuinely need the all-wheel-drive grip and the extra pace.
