The Polestar 4 SUV is the stronger buy. It out-ranges and out-charges the Mercedes-Benz EQB, carries a current five-star safety rating and costs less to buy. Choose the EQB only if you need its rare compact third row and want the Mercedes badge, and can accept it is the older car.
200kW
On a DC fast charger the Polestar 4 SUV peaks at 200kW, twice the Mercedes-Benz EQB's 100kW, so a 10 to 80 per cent top-up takes about 30 minutes against the EQB's 35, and the Polestar is the cheaper car.
Pick a priority — we’ll show the numbers that matter and tell you which car we’d choose.

The Polestar 4 holds a current five-star ANCAP rating, which ANCAP lists as applying to all variants. It was earned on the related coupe body the SUV shares a platform with, and the new SUV body was not separately crash-tested. The EQB is currently unrated: its earlier five-star result, carried over from the petrol GLB, has lapsed, so it is unrated now, not failed. Both fit a full active-safety suite as standard. The Polestar leads on current safety.
Based on Safety, we’d pick the Polestar Polestar 4 SUV.

This is the EQB's one clear win. A compact body hides an up-to-seven 5+2 layout, rare in an EV this size and useful for the occasional extra pair of seats. Treat that third row as kids-and-short-trips space, not adult touring. The Polestar seats five but uses the room well, with a 530-litre boot and a near-three-metre wheelbase for more rear space. Need a third row sometimes, the EQB wins family; for five in comfort, the Polestar is the better car.
Based on Everyday & family, we’d pick the Mercedes-Benz EQB.
The EQB wears a sealed EQ-style nose and the upright, boxy stance of the GLB it shares its bones with, built for cabin space rather than drama. There is no open grille chasing a sporty look, just a short bonnet and a tall windscreen that push the cabin forward and free up room for the seats behind.
The 4 SUV keeps the coupe's blanked SmartZone face and split-level lighting, now sitting under a straighter roofline. The low nose and flush detailing carry straight over from the fastback, so head-on the two bodies look almost identical until the roof stretches back toward the rear seats.

The EQB's real case is packaging.
The Polestar 4 SUV is the more sensible half of a two-body range.

you need a genuine third row in a compact, easy-to-park EV and want the Mercedes cabin and badge. Its up-to-seven 5+2 layout is the rare trick nothing else this small offers, and that flexibility matters more to you than outright range, charging speed or price. Go in knowing it is the run-out model, soon replaced by the electric GLB.
Explore the EQByou want the longer range, the faster charging, more power and the bigger screen, and you only need five seats. It is the newer car, it undercuts the EQB on price, and it holds a five-star safety rating. The restored rear window and larger boot make it the easier Polestar 4 to live with day to day.
