Deepal S07 vs Nissan Ariya

The Deepal is the cheaper car. Its single grade lists at $47,990 driveaway as of September 2026, under the $49,990 Ariya Engage and well under the rest of the Nissan range, all quoted on the same driveaway basis. The more telling gap is at matched equipment: the S07 fits a panoramic roof, head-up display, heated and ventilated seats and a 360 camera as standard, and the Ariya only gathers all of that by the $61,990 Advance+, about $14,000 more. The Ariya's sharp entry price itself reflects a mid-2026 cut Nissan made as sales lagged. Both prices move with offers, and the Deepal is run-out stock, so confirm the current driveaway figure and available build before you decide. Either way, the S07 is much the cheaper way onto the road.

This one splits by grade. The S07 claims 475km on the WLTP cycle from its 79.97kWh battery. The Ariya's entry 63kWh grades claim only 385km, so the Deepal goes further than the cheaper Nissans. Step up to the 87kWh Advance+ and the Ariya claims 504km, the longest range here, with the all-wheel-drive Evolve at 487km. So whether the S07 out-ranges the Ariya depends entirely on which Ariya you are comparing. All are lab figures, and real-world range sits below them, more so at highway speed. For a typical week of commuting, any of these covers it comfortably between charges.

The Ariya is the quicker charger, and it is a real difference on longer drives. Every Ariya grade accepts DC power at up to 130kW, and Nissan quotes about 35 minutes from 10 to 80 per cent on the 63kWh cars, around 40 on the bigger 87kWh pack. The S07 peaks near 92kW and quotes about 35 minutes for a narrower 30 to 80 per cent window, so it recovers less range in a similar stop. Both charge fully overnight on a home wallbox, which is how most owners will do the bulk of their charging. But if you road-trip often and lean on public fast chargers, the Nissan asks for less patience at each stop.

Both carry a five-star ANCAP rating, so neither is a compromise. They earn it differently. The Deepal is the stronger performer in the crash tests, scoring 95 per cent for adult-occupant protection to the Ariya's 86, and its rating comes off newer 2024 testing where the Nissan's dates to 2022. The Ariya leads on safety assist, at 95 per cent to the S07's 70, and edges child-occupant protection, 89 to 86, with the two level at 74 per cent for vulnerable road users. Each fits the full driver-assistance suite as standard, including autonomous emergency braking, lane keep, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. On the record it is a genuine wash.

The S07 is the tow winner, and by a wide margin for the money. Its single grade is rated to 1500kg braked and 750kg unbraked, enough for a small camper trailer, a box trailer or a pair of jet skis, from $47,990 driveaway as of September 2026. The Ariya's front-drive grades are rated to just 750kg braked, and it only matches the Deepal's 1500kg in the $75,990 Evolve e-4ORCE. So if towing is on your list, the cheapest car here does what only the dearest Nissan can. Neither is a heavy-duty tow vehicle by diesel-ute standards, but for occasional light towing the Deepal is comfortably the more capable and the far cheaper option.

It is close and it flips. Seats up, the Ariya's 466-litre boot narrowly beats the S07's 445. Fold the rear seats and the Deepal edges ahead, 1385 litres to 1350, and it adds a 125-litre front boot the Ariya does without, useful for keeping charging cables out of the main load area. The S07 is the longer car by 155mm on a longer wheelbase, though cabin room between them is close. Neither has a standout advantage in passenger space. So the Nissan is the roomier everyday boot and the Deepal the better package for cables and folded-seat loads, which makes the winner depend on how you usually pack.

This one mostly favours the Deepal, with one Nissan win. The S07 carries a seven-year, 160,000km warranty to the Ariya's five-year, unlimited-kilometre cover, and it publishes capped servicing at $300 a visit on longer 20,000km or 12-month intervals. Both back their batteries for eight years. The Ariya's advantage is roadside assistance, a lengthy 10 years to the Deepal's one, and its unlimited-kilometre warranty suits very high-distance drivers who would run past the S07's 160,000km cap. It services more often, every 15,000km. On balance the Deepal is the stronger ownership case for most buyers, led by the longer warranty and cheaper, less frequent servicing.

The S07 is the more loaded cabin, the Ariya the calmer one. The S07 throws more at you as standard: a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, a 12.3-inch driver's display, a 14-speaker Sony system, a head-up display and heated and ventilated seats, all on its one grade. The Ariya answers with atmosphere, a hushed, airy, lounge-like cabin AU reviewers rate as the nicest here for the money, plus built-in navigation standard across the range where the Deepal uses wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Nissan tiers its comfort kit up the grades, so the head-up display and sunroof arrive at the Advance+. Choose on whether standard features or cabin atmosphere matters more to you.

It comes down to price against polish. If you want the most electric SUV for the least money, the S07 is the value pick: one loaded grade from $47,990 (September 2026) with a big battery and screen, a panoramic roof and heated and ventilated seats standard, 1500kg of towing and the longer warranty, provided you accept slower charging, a single grade and run-out stock. If you will spend up, the Ariya is the more resolved car: 130kW charging across the range, a genuine 504km grade in the Advance+, and the calmest cabin in the class, though you reach the Deepal's standard kit only around $62,000.
