Geely EX5 or Hyundai Elexio: which should you buy?

The Geely EX5 is the value pick: thousands cheaper on the road with a longer seven-year warranty and far more roadside cover, if you can live with less range and a smaller boot. Choose the Hyundai Elexio for its bigger 88.1kWh battery, longer 562km range, 506-litre boot and standout 27-inch screen, if the higher spend suits.

The Hyundai Elexio's dashboard is a single 27-inch display corner to corner, with a head-up display standard. The cheaper Geely EX5 pairs a 15.4-inch touchscreen with a separate 10.2-inch driver's cluster.

The verdict

Which is better: the Geely EX5 or the Hyundai Elexio?

Pick the EX5 if

you want a five-star electric SUV for the least money on the road. At $41,990 driveaway the EX5 lands about $14,000 under the Elexio's current offer as of September 2026, and roughly $17,000 under its list price, both quoted with NSW on-road costs in, and it adds the longer seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, seven years of roadside and heated front seats as standard. The cabin is plush and quiet. Accept that it is the smaller car, with a 68.39kWh battery, a 475km range, a 302-litre boot and a soft, floaty ride. Buy the Complete, and step up to the Inspire only for the sunroof, head-up display and ventilated seats.

Pick the Elexio if

you will pay about $14,000 more for a bigger, longer-range car with a flagship cabin. The Elexio brings an 88.1kWh battery, a claimed 562km range, a 506-litre boot and a 27-inch pillar-to-pillar screen with a standard head-up display, plus nine airbags and dual-zone climate. It also services less often and drives, by several AU reviews, better than its Kia EV5 twin. Note the $55,990 is a current drive-away offer to 30 September 2026 over a $58,990 list, the warranty is the shorter five years, and roadside runs two. Buy the base ELEXIO; the Elite's $4,000 buys comfort kit, not capability.
