Buy the Zeekr 7X: it charges far faster, offers a longer-range grade and an all-wheel-drive option, and carries a 5-star rating the Mazda lacks. Choose the Mazda CX-6e instead if a trusted badge, a wider dealer network and a lower drive-away price matter more to you than outright hardware.
42 Wh/km
The heavier, more powerful Zeekr 7X uses 147 Wh/km to the lighter Mazda CX-6e's 189, about 22 per cent less, so it costs less to charge and turns each kilowatt-hour into more real range.
Pick a priority — we’ll show the numbers that matter and tell you which car we’d choose.

Read the drive-away number, not the list price. On the road the CX-6e is the cheaper car to register, at both its grades. The 7X asks more, but its Long Range grade adds a bigger battery and a 615km range the Mazda has no answer to. The Mazda wins on price; the Zeekr wins on what the money buys.
A genuine tie.
Both cars handle running costsequally well — this one’s a draw.

The 7X holds a 5-star ANCAP rating, scoring 91 per cent for adult occupant protection and 87 for child occupants. The CX-6e has not been crash-tested by ANCAP, so it carries no star rating, though it fits nine airbags and a full driver-assist suite as standard. On an independent score today, the Zeekr is the settled choice.
Based on Safety, we’d pick the Zeekr 7X.

The 7X is the bigger load-lugger, with 539 litres behind the rear seats to the CX-6e's 363, plus tri-zone climate and a 5-star rating. The CX-6e counters with Mazda's dealer reach, warranty certainty and standard ventilated seats. For space and safety on paper the Zeekr leads; for peace of mind the Mazda answers.
Based on Everyday & family, we’d pick the Zeekr 7X.
The CX-6e wears Mazda's design language up front, familiar and restrained, with signature LED lighting over a clean, closed-off nose. It looks unmistakably like a Mazda rather than a from-scratch EV, which is part of the pitch: a known face for buyers stepping into electric for the first time, not a styling leap they have to talk themselves into.
The 7X leads with a full-width light bar and a wider, more assertive face that announces the newcomer rather than hiding it. It reads as the more overtly modern of the two, the styling doing the work of convincing buyers a young brand belongs in premium company, and it mostly pulls the look off.

CX-6e
7X
The CX-6e is Mazda's first mainstream electric SUV, and it leads with the things a spec sheet misses.
Where the Mazda argues on badge and price, the 7X argues on hardware.

Opinions are our own.
Pick the CX-6e if trust and running costs lead your list. It wears a badge Australians know, roughly 150 dealers back it, and at entry it undercuts the Zeekr on the road by thousands of dollars. The cabin is plush and quiet, the 26.45-inch screen dominates, and ventilated seats are standard on both grades. The trade is slower charging, no all-wheel drive and no ANCAP rating yet, so buyers chasing peak numbers should look hard at the 7X.
Explore the CX-6ePick the 7X if the numbers lead your list. Its 800-volt system charges far faster than the Mazda, up to 450kW on the base car, and the Long Range grade travels 615km to the CX-6e's 484. It out-powers the Mazda at every grade, offers a Performance AWD the Mazda cannot match, and carries a 5-star rating. The trade is newness: a five-year warranty, a thin dealer network and a ride some reviewers fault on coarse roads, so badge-and-dealer buyers may prefer the Mazda.
