Deepal S07 vs Skoda Enyaq Coupé

The gap is large and on a like-for-like basis. The Deepal S07 comes in a single rear-drive grade at $47,990 driveaway, against the Enyaq Coupé Sportline 85 at $70,990 driveaway, both August 2026 figures, so the Deepal undercuts the Škoda by about $23,000. Unlike some cross-shops, these two are quoted on the same driveaway basis, so the saving is real rather than a basis quirk. What that $23,000 does not buy you in the Deepal is the Škoda's much faster charging, longer range, more power and established-brand resale record, which is where the Coupé makes its case for the extra money.

The main catch is DC charging speed. The S07 peaks at just 92kW, where the Enyaq Coupé manages 165kW, so a fast-charging stop takes materially longer in the Deepal, which matters most on road trips. Beyond that, it makes less power than the Škoda, holds a smaller boot, carries a one-year roadside plan against two, has a vehicle warranty capped at 160,000km where the Škoda's is unlimited, and comes from a brand still new to Australia with an unproven resale record. None of these is a dealbreaker for a home-charging city buyer, but together they are what the extra $23,000 in the Škoda (August 2026 pricing) addresses.

Both cars carry a seven-year vehicle warranty, but the Škoda's is unlimited-kilometre where the Deepal's caps at 160,000km, which matters for high-mileage drivers. On the battery, the roles reverse: Deepal covers the S07's battery for eight years or 240,000km, well beyond the Škoda's eight years and 160,000km. So the Deepal gives the longer battery safety net and the Škoda the more open-ended vehicle cover. For most private buyers under 30,000km a year, both warranties comfortably outlast a typical ownership period.

The S07 holds a five-star ANCAP rating with a standout 95 per cent adult-occupant score, one of the segment's higher results. Its active-safety suite is standard too: autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and pedestrian detection. Two caveats worth noting: it carries seven airbags to the Enyaq Coupé's nine, and its 70 per cent safety-assist sub-score trails the Škoda-class norm. On the headline rating the two are level at five stars, and both are well equipped with active safety, so neither is a safety compromise.

The Enyaq Coupé wins both. It claims 565km on the WLTP cycle against the S07's 475, a 90km advantage, from a similar-sized battery it uses more efficiently, 156.9Wh/km to 186. On charging the gap is wider still: the Škoda peaks at 165kW on DC for a 10 to 80 per cent stop around 29 minutes, where the Deepal manages only 92kW and a longer wait. Both charge on AC at 11kW overnight, and the S07 adds vehicle-to-load to power appliances. For touring and public charging the Škoda is clearly ahead; for home-charging city use the Deepal's slower DC matters far less.

Deepal is the electric brand of Changan, one of China's largest carmakers, and it is still new to Australia. On paper the ownership case is strong: a seven-year vehicle warranty and an eight-year, 240,000km battery warranty put real backing behind the car. The genuine unknowns are resale value, which has no local track record yet, and a dealer and service network that is still expanding, so check coverage in your area before buying. For a value-focused buyer comfortable with those unknowns, the S07 offers an enormous amount of car for the money; buyers who prioritise a proven resale record will lean to the established Škoda.

It comes down to budget and how you charge. The Deepal S07 is a remarkable amount of car for $47,990 driveaway (August 2026), well-equipped, five-star safe and long on battery warranty, and if you charge mostly at home its slow DC charging rarely bites. The Enyaq Coupé costs about $23,000 more and earns it on the road: nearly twice the DC charging speed, 90km more range, more power, a bigger boot and an established brand with a known resale story. Budget-first, home-charging buyers should start with the Deepal; long-distance drivers and those who value a proven badge should start with the Škoda.
